...a low pressure region behind it. By closing off the airbox area except for a small gap that leads to the space between fmic and radiator, he will feed fresh air to the rad, bypassing the fmic. From your (MUCH MORE INFORMATIVE) pic, it looks like a difficult job. The other solution is to just open up the nose panel and let the extra airflow come through both the fmic and the radiator. This accomplishes some of the same benefit.
